August 2011 We had a wonderful week at Les Rossignols. The house was beautiful and amazingly equipped. It is fantastic to find cupboards with herbs and cooking oil! The welcome basket is also a lovely touch. The bedrooms were all spacious and plenty of room to move around in a wheelchair or carrying toddlers / babies! A great feature in the shower room was the cobbled tiled area - it was non slip so safe for toddlers. Great terrace area, and a fantastic BBQ! Neill and Terri were both wonderful hosts, accommodating our early arrival and also very slightly late departure! Thank you! Neill was great and let the children visit the chickens which put a smile on their faces. To be honest we didn't venture particularly far - just enjoyed playing in the pool. However I would recommend the lake (Neill can give you details) - it was fantastic. A clean beach, toilet facilities, lake for swimming and boating, nice cafe and restaurant (chocolate mousse was awesome) and a children's play area. It was only about 15 minutes in the car and well worth a visit if the weather is nice. Also we went to Brantome market on Friday morning - superb and highly recommended.
May 2010 Dear Neill and Terri, The rest of our trip went well, and we are now back to our customary routines of simply trying to endure another Texas summer. To me that reduces to the familiar descriptions of T.S. Elliot's Wasteland. "There is only the sound of cicadas in this dry land of unremitting heat". So nothing remains now but the memory of the peace and quiet; and, especially, the cool comfort of Anchera. We thank you again for your hospitality, and for the many small favors that made our stay there truly comfortable. All the work and attention to detail that you put into Les Rossignols is abundantly apparent, and we were greatly impressed by it. My wife, having seen the pictures of it, insists that if we are ever in France when she is free to travel, that we try to spend some time there; so I hope that is the harbinger of a return visit someday. All our best, J & B, Lufkin, Texas
May 2010 We have just spent a glorious week in this wonderful property. I am a wheelchair user and am often wary of descriptions for "wheelchair accessability". This Gite however ticks all the boxes. It is tastefully decorated with many little touches that makes one feel comfortable from the start. The wet room bathroom is a joy to use and while all downstairs areas are completely accessible it still retains an air of comfort and charm. The pool has a ramp that allows easy transfers in and out. The owners Terri and Neill were charming hosts. The surrounding area has wonderful views and many places of interest to visit within an hours drive! Sarazac and Brantome were my favorites. Friday market day in Brantome is a must visit. All in all it was a wonderful week we will certainly be back. I cannot reccommend this highly enough.

May 2010 We have had a wonderful week in the Dordogne, Thanks to Terri & Neill's beautiful Gite, it is exceptionally clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. I was constantly amazed at just how much was supplied, even down to adapter plugs and sewing kit!! Terri & Neill are great hosts, they are always there if you need them , but will also keep away if you don't. The description of the property , layout and facilities especially for the disabled is even more than they say. Great place for walkers and for "chilling out" Lots of beautiful places to visit. we particularly enjoyed Brantome, just over an hour away, a great market there, you can hire canoe's as well , it is also known as "little Venice" Of course there is also the private pool, which is also kept very clean. Overall we couldn't fault it and will definitely be returning. It's an amazing barn conversion, if you are interested Neill will show you the photo's. We have already recommended it to friends. BT, Emsworth.
September 2009 Congratulations Terri & Neill you have created a beautiful Gite with brilliant access for wheelchair users without compromising on style. We have had a wonderful relaxing week. It is so refreshing to find accommodation that not only caters for disabled people but understands that disabled people also have a sense of style and appreciate the finer things in life and don't want to be put in a clinical environment. The rooms were not only spacious but very well equipped. Access to the shower/wet room was excellent and made the holiday so much easier not having to struggle with steps in and out of the shower. So much thought has gone into the design of this Gite even down to having a ramp down into the pool. Well done and thank you so much for your warm and helpful hospitality we will certainly come back.

September 2009 My wife and I and two friends stayed at Les Rossignols in September last year and we can honestly say we have rarely enjoyed a holiday more. The gite is large, clean and with plenty of space for four adults. The lounge is big, airy and comfortable, the kitchen is large and well equipped and the bedrooms spacious with lovely views over fields and woods. We had many meals outside on the terrace, which is conveniently accessed from the kitchen area. Mr and Mrs Weatherill, who live nearby, were always on hand if we needed anything and indeed joined us for one of several BBQs next to the pool. The property is very private with fabulous views over open countryside. I especially enjoyed early morning walks around Rossignol's extensive grounds, just listening to the sounds of the countryside. We visited Bergerac, the market at Thiviers and Périgueux, although we found Périgueux an awkward place to drive through. If you like holidays in unspoilt French countryside and a comfortable, well-equipped base to stay, then Les Rossignols has got it all. We loved it!!

August 2009 We have really enjoyed our stay at Les Rossignols. The kids have really enjoyed the pool as have my parents. It is difficult to find somewhere that suits an 8 year old and a 76 year old! The gite had done that. We loved the bats and the deer. The living accomodation is so spacious and cool in the nights. Thank you for all your attention and looking after us and making our stay so enjoyable (despite the overcooked potatoes!). J.A. Chester
August 2009 Many thanks for a lovely stay, the villa has been the best we have stayed at in our 8 years of French holidays. We have all enjoyed the lovely pool and the peace and quiet. Our best days have been Brantome where we all canoed and enjoyed the river, with plenty of wildlife in the evening! The chateau in Jumilhac is well worth a night visit on a Thursday evening for a more magical tour. The girls also found the Ancheyra fairies very friendly and generous! Many thanks again.

July 2009 Thank you for a lovely week in a beautiful gite! Disabled aceess is brilliant for a wheelchair user and the pool was also easily accessible (and lovely). Thank you for looking after us all so well and for the ride on the tractor - and the telescope. All the best. P.S. Still no sign of Andromeda! AS, Newbury.
June 2009 Terri & Neill, Thankyou for letting us stay in the best gite in France. Problem was we were torn between options of doing the tourist attractions and staying home by the pool in the sun and enjoying the comfort and tranquility there - latter option most days! It was really nice to see and hear the wildlife around the gite, the buzzards, the hoopoe, the lizards, the black kites, the woodpeckers, stag beatles and the glowworms in your lane after dark. Thanks for all the maps and data sorted out for us by Neill, much appreciated. Most of all thankyou for your lovely company and friendship. All the very best for the future. MB, Derbyshire.
June 2009 We had a superb stay in France for the whole of June 09. We found the house very accommodating and suitable for wheelchair use. During the day there were many interesting things to do within an hour of the house. In the evenings we enjoyed chilling out and dipping in the pool. Many thanks for letting us stay in your lovely house and the friendship you showed us while we were there. I really recommend this to anyone, whether a wheelchair user or not, if they want to slow the clock down and enjoy this beautiful area of France, staying in this excellent accommodation. May 2009 Hi Neill & Terri, Rod and I are missing the French sunshine! It's been really stormy here this weekend so we've been dodging the rain. We had a fantastic week staying in your beautiful house, which felt like a home from home. The countryside is so beautiful and peaceful. An easy day-trip not to be missed is Brantome - where you can dine overlooking the picturesque river. The pretty village of St Jean De Cole is well worth taking a stroll around and the gardens of the chateau at Hautefort make a lovely spot to picnic. Take care, JA, Oxhey.
April 2009 Well done Terri & Neill you have created a superb gite for both the handicapped & non handicapped. Nothing was too much trouble & we had a great fortnight in tranquil & beautiful surroundings. It was great being able to access a shower so easily. The rooms were spacious & well equipped. Sitting on the verandah with a glass (or two) of wine, reading, with the sun shining, was a real treat! We had a wonderful Easter Sunday lunch in the "Cheval Blanc" in St.Yrieix La Perche. Excellent food & ambience & very leisurely. Not very expensive either. Beware the "Grotte de Rouffignac" is not suitable for the disabled. I could not get onto the electric train which takes you into the "Grotte"! Which was a great disappointment. Most of the Hypermarches have disabled toilets. In Limoges if you park by "Les Halles", the market, on the first level there is a disabled bay & there is a disabled toilet on the same level & a lift. I use a mobility scooter & in Périgueux, the "Flo Avril" tea shop does good snacks & the toilet is easy to use if you can walk a little. Not sure if you could get a wheelchair through the doors though? Thank-you Terri & Neill. Peter & I recommend "Les Rossignols" as a great holiday. PB, West Midlands
August 2008 We like to " get away from it all " and explore and Les Rossignols is tucked away deep in the countryside, with inviting pathways leading off in every direction! It's the perfect place to unwind; really peaceful and pretty. The house itself exceeded our expectations and is a joy to stay in, so comfortable and well equipped. Teresa and Neill, the owners, could not be more welcoming. They are on hand to answer any queries and provide all the local knowledge you need to plan your excursions. We particularly enjoyed driving along the quiet roads, ( so very different from England's now ), on our trips: to Brantome on the River Dronne with its market, Jumilhac-le-Grand with its magnificent chateau and to Segur-le-Chateau's fabulous village barbecue. Very much looking forward to returning this year!

August 2008 Hi Neill and Terri, Please don't think we've forgotten you, just this last months gone by without my feet touching the ground! Meant to reply to you weeks ago to say once again how much we enjoyed our stay at your villa, and we will absolutely recommend you to all our friends!! Writing this now, I'm feeling quite nostalgic actually (and envious), wish we were all there once again - obviously we'd hate to miss the next six months of guaranteed cold damp mornings, the endless drizzle and the dark chilly days and grey slushiness of Blighty!! Although I think we'd cope! (Do you need any winter staff)?? Glad to see pool pet no.2 is protecting the waters. Grace and Jack will love to see the photos, just don't let any horrid children throw this one overboard. Hope all is going well. Stay in touch... keep us updated and if you ever need anyone with three kids to house sit in August we could probably help out!!!
All the best, PM, Tonbridge
July 2008 Dear Terri and Neil We really had a fantastic time at the Gite and you have a great place. It was just what we were looking for in a much needed break. We love the peaceful location and the excellent views. You deserve great credit that you have made the place spacious and furnished it to a very high standard. It's definitely a cut above the rest. We could have spent most of our time 'commuting' between the long table on the balcony and the pool below. You've everything in place for a wonderful holiday and it's an ideal place for relaxing and chilling out. See you next year. P & C, Wray
June 2008 Hi Terri & Neill Thank you so much for making our stay such a memorable one, the welcome fridge contents and bottle of wine were thoughtful and appreciated, we all felt really at home with you both. The gite was fantastic and set in beautiful surroundings and your hospitality was second to none many many thanks , you will certainly be highly recommended by us all. Good luck to you both in the future. Sincere regards LW, Dorchester.
